Feminist Theory is an advanced readings course designed for students with experience in Women’s Studies. We’ll be reading some classic twentieth-century feminist texts and core theoretical essays, investigating various types and styles of feminist reasoning, while also looking at how feminist analyses can help us approach and attack some of the urgent problems facing us today. You’ll be asked to think critically about what we read – to join the conversation about what feminist theory can and needs to be for the twenty-first century – and also to develop two research projects, in line with your own interests and commitments. The class will have a seminar-style discussion format, where we’re all teaching and learning from one another.
