RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Instructional and Learning Services / Director of the Information Technology Associates Program (ITAP) is responsible for coordinating instructional technology activities across the University. As a Senior Instructional Technologist, the person in this position promotes the instructional technology vision for the Institution; leads the instructional technology team; consults with faculty members about the use of instructional technology in teaching and research; and directs the Information Technology Associates Program (ITAP). Reporting to the Interim CIO, he/she collaborates with the FITS Faculty Coordinator, the faculty development coordinator, the instructional librarians and other key constituents across the University who are involved in supporting the University’s 361° technology initiatives. This position is an integral part of the Library and Information Services management team.
Programs in Instructional and Learning Services (I.L.S.) include Faculty Instructional Technology Support (FITS) which provides consulting and technical support for faculty members using instructional technology in teaching and learning; Student Technology Assessment, Resources and Training (START) which fosters information fluency among DePauw students; a digital media lab; a music instructional technology center (MITC); audio recording services for the Green Center for the Performing Arts; and a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Center. DePauw’s Information Technology Associates Program is a nationally-distinctive, selective program for students interested in technology and liberal arts education (for full program details, see http://www.depauw.edu/it/itap).
Essential functions include identifying and coordinating instructional technology programs and services for faculty members and students, including but not limited to: promoting the instructional technology vision for the Institution; identifying and conducting instructional technology workshops; providing instructional technology consulting support and services; managing and assisting with team-based instructional media production projects; and developing relationships with faculty members to provide specific course-related technology training and support for students; managing all aspects of the ITAP program, which include but are not limited to: recruiting and marketing to prospective students; monitoring IT internship data; overseeing technology-related internships for semester-long, winter term and summer experiences on- and off-campus for DePauw students; establishing and maintaining relationships with ITAP alumni; and communicating about the program to potential employers and University alumni; developing and employing formative and summative assessment mechanisms that measure the effectiveness of instructional technology services and the ITAP program; supervising and mentoring I.L.S. and ITAP staff members; and serving on relevant University committees and project teams which advise and shape the vision of instructional technology at the University. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology or related field and 5 years relevant experience required. Master’s degree preferred. Must have proven expertise in instructional technology, learning theory, learning space design; experience planning and implementing instructional technology-related support programs and workshops for faculty members; experience and proven success in managing employees; demonstrated effective project management skills; ability to work well with people who have a wide range of skills and background; effective written, oral and presentation skills; and ability to collaborate and work well with colleagues. Teaching experience desired, but not required.
