RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to Associate Dean of Student Academic Support Services and Director of Counseling and Health Services, the Eating Disorder Counselor will conduct assessments; provide both individual and group therapy based on a brief therapy model; provide emergency coverage on a scheduled rotation basis at times returning to campus for emergency services, assessments and/or referrals; provide outreach programming on issues relevant to student development and/or psychological issues; coordinate the annual Wellness Fair in conjunction with other wellness service providers and assist with Wellness Center screening day projects; establish collaborative relationships with relevant departments and offices on campus such as: The Women’s Center, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Athletics, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Depauw.year1; coordinate clinical services for eating disorders in conjunction with the nutritionist, counseling, medical staff and other relevant faculty, staff and administrators; coordinate the Interdisciplinary Eating Disorder Task Force and develop clearly defined protocols, guidelines and services for students with eating disorders; provide consultation and training to students, faculty and staff regarding clinical/psychological and developmental issues of students; and attend weekly and monthly staff meetings, staff development workshops and stay abreast of current research and practices.
The GEAR Coordinator will provide leadership, manage budget, develop and implement training and conduct evaluation for the Greek Educators Advocates and Resources (GEAR) program; maintain awareness of best practices for peer education programs; implement training on wellness education for a broad based wellness team (GEAR) which provides a programming series on a variety of topics such as: sexual health, eating disorders, fitness, nutrition and substance abuse; establish and maintain on-going communication with residence hall and Greek house leadership to identify student needs and concerns related to health and wellness; and collaborate with the Greek Life Coordinator(s) who work with GEAR students as he/she addresses the developmental, academic and wellness needs of students.
REQUIREMENTS
The Eating Disorder Counselor must have Master’s or doctorate in counseling or social work and clinical experience with college aged students. Licensed or licensed eligible in Indiana and two-three years of clinical experience in a University counseling center preferred. Must also have experience in assessment, diagnosis and implementation of interventions for eating disorders, depression, anxiety, alcohol/drugs abuse and developmental concerns frequently faced by college aged students; experience and interest in developing programming for women’s wellness and health; demonstrated ability to manage the fluctuation of clinical caseload and maintain appropriate records in a timely manner; sensitivity to and embracement of individuals that represent cultural, religious, ethnic and lifestyle diversity; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team member within the Wellness Center and throughout campus; and understanding of and/or experiences in residential, liberal arts college environment. Familiarity with frequently used assessment tools such as the BDI, EDI, MBTI desired.
The GEAR Coordinator requires Master’s or doctorate in counseling or social work; experience providing training to students in areas of peer education and/or wellness education/advocacy programs; education, training and/or experience in coordination of health and wellness programming; and familiarity with the organizational structures of PanHel, IFC and NPHC and their impact on the viability of successful peer educational programs.
