Financial Systems Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Systems Analyst supports the transactional process and reporting functions of Finance and Human Resources by evaluating, analyzing, and maintaining the University’s Finance and Human Resources Systems (currently  Oracle E-Business Suite), as well as other computer systems and products used to support Finance and Administration functions. This position is involved in cross-functional user support and training and serves as a technical liaison between the Office of Finance and Administration and Information Services for maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and system upgrades.  Researches, prioritizes and follows-up on system related issues, projects and concerns.  Collaborates with members of the Office of Finance and Administration to develop standardized, accurate and timely financial and operational reports.

    • Evaluates, analyzes, and maintains the University’s Finance and Human Resources Systems;
    • Develops, maintains, and produces standardized and adhoc reports and views as needed to address Finance and Administration reporting needs; Works closely with members of the Finance and Administration staff to determine reporting needs and requirements, completion dates and priorities;
    • Provides user and technical support, integration and database administration for the various Finance and Human Resources applications, including, but not limited to, Oracle E-business Suite and MSOffice;
    • Analyzes current departmental system practices and procedures and makes recommendations for improving quality and efficiency;
    • Works closely with members of the Finance and Administration staff to assess, document, identify, develop and implement tools and processes to improve efficiencies and productivity;
    • Assists in providing support, information, and training to Finance and Administration staff on system design, utilization, process improvements and system problem resolution;
    • Acts as primary contact and liaison between the respective divisions within Finance and Administration and Information Services:
    • Collaborates with Information Services in providing support to ensure that system enhancements and upgrades run smoothly and that programming methods and system guidelines align with University-defined standards;
    • Represents the respective divisions of Finance and Administration, as directed, for all IT system revisions and integration, including monitoring Oracle patches specific to the Finance and Human Resource modules. Monitors and communicates process or system changes to impacted parties and process owners;
    • Researches, prioritizes, follows-up on system related issues, projects and concerns;
    • Coordinates testing of the Finance and Human Resource modules during implementation upgrades and enhancements. Assists in the creation and definition of test plans and validation points;
    • Works with Information Services to manage functional roles granted in the Finance module and ensures University information security policies are adhered to and enforced and product usage guidelines are followed;
    • Creates and runs queries to regularly audit financial data in the Finance module, as deemed appropriate;
    • Participates on University application systems project team(s) and other committees as deemed appropriate;
    • Performs other related duties as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS 

      • Bachelor‘s degree in accounting, business, computer science, or related field; degree requirement may be substituted by sufficient years of relevant experience;
      • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance;
      • Knowledge and experience in working with a relational database management system;
      • Prior work experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and prior work experience in a higher education setting preferred;
      • Three to five years of experience in financial system support and maintenance;
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
      • Strong knowledge of working in a functional/technical capacity with a good understanding of business processes, relational databases and table structures in an ERP;
      • Experience using computer applications to analyze complex enterprise data, preferably using SQL;
      • Ability to effectively develop specialized reports in a timely and accurate manner;
      • Experience in defining and analyzing business requirements, process modeling, functional systems design or configuration and systems testing;
      • Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
      • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
      • Substantial knowledge and experience using MSOffice Suite;
      • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style, self-motivation, and ability to effectively manage shifting priorities;
      • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of constituents;
      • Must be able to work well independently, as well as in a team environment.
