Greek Life Coordinator
Full-time, 12-month, salaried position with benefit

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Greek Life Coordinator will be responsible for helping to communicate the purposes and values of Greek life among DePauw’s students, faculty and administration.  The Greek Life Coordinator will provide positive support to Greek leaders and members, including skill development in goal-setting, communication and administration.  The Greek Life Coordinator will help facilitate communication and understanding among students, alumni chapter advisers and the university.  Responsibilities fall under the following areas: member development, leadership, communication, housing and facilities, and alumni/parent relations.  Specific responsibilities might include directly advising 6-7 fraternities and sororities on all issues regarding the daily and long-term operations of their chapters; serving as an important point of contact for alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and neighbors for concerns involving the chapters for which they are responsible; working with chapter leadership to develop new member education programs and provide oversight during the new member education process; serving in a consulting capacity in helping the chapter develop its annual goals, including those which are required under the Greek Standards Initiative (GSI); maintaining regular communication with faculty, particularly the faculty scholarship adviser; helping to coordinate positive cultural and social opportunities in the community as well as work to reduce the use of alcohol and drugs within the Greek system; working with the leadership program to develop and facilitate Greek leadership workshops and seminars; helping chapters maintain web pages, communicate with alumni and parents, and apply for national awards and honors; serving as a liaison to the chapters’ alumni and (inter)national organizations and attending regional Greek leadership conferences; and assisting with regular inspection of health and safety, maintenance of facility issues in Greek living areas.  Secondary responsibilities might include: advising councils, advising the student coordinators of Greek Week, coordinating Greek Awards, and advising Order of Omega.

REQUIREMENTS 
Membership in a national fraternity or sorority essential. Experience with Greek life in a university setting, as a consultant with a national organization, or as a Greek chapter adviser is desired. A master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field is helpful. Experience working with men’s fraternities highly desired.  Must have demonstrated experience with and sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community.  This position also requires ability to advise students, individually and in groups; ability to identify and develop leadership opportunities for all students; strong interpersonal, organizational and conflict management skills; excellent verbal, written and technological communication skills, along with the willingness to work flexible hours and evenings as needed.
