Experts agree that a degree in the liberal arts and sciences helps graduates adapt and deal with change. The interaction of multiple disciplines will introduce you to new ways of thinking, giving you the tools to explore how to learn and the confidence to instigate change.
Winter-term, study abroad, and internships add to the richness of the mix.

DePauw faculty members are not only first-rate teachers but also extraordinary scholars. More than two-thirds of our faculty members published a book or article or made a presentation at regional, national or international conferences in 2001.
While other colleges our size have only a handful of faculty members from diverse populations, DePauw is proud to say that persons of color represent 14 percent of our faculty.
At DePauw, the scholarly endeavors of the faculty directly impact students. For example, Pedar W. Foss and Rebecca Schindler, both assistant professors of classical studies, lead students on archaeological digs to never-before-excavated sites in Turkey and serve as co-directors of the new Global Partners Turkey Center for Undergraduate Studies.
In 2002, seven faculty members received the largest research grant in DePauw's history for an interdisciplinary science research project that involves 21 students.
DePauw faculty members are available to students. Our student-faculty ratio is a nearly unmatched 10:1.

The DePauw School of Music provides conservatory-level training within a liberal arts and sciences environment. Credentials of our faculty musicians rival those of conservatory professors — and with a student-faculty ratio of 5:1, students get plenty of individual attention.
Students not majoring in music are welcome to participate in ensembles and performances. About a third of the student body is involved in the School of Music.
Renowned guest artists perform and conduct master classes. Over 100 performances a year are held in campus facilities that are among the best in the region. From the jazz ensemble to the chamber orchestra, opportunities both to perform and appreciate abound.
“The most important thing DePauw has done for me is to give me hands-on opportunities to take on leadership experiences despite age and major. My experiences as a student leader at DePauw have made me more confident in myself, challenged me, and really pushed me forward.”
