ARTSFEST 2009:  ART & POWER

ArtsFest: Art & PowerDePauw's annual celebration of the arts showcases the creative and performing arts talents of members of the DePauw community and visiting artists. In its 8th season, ArtsFest 2009: Art & Power will explore the intrinsic power of art to change itself, change us and change the world. Festival events are free and open to the public with exceptions noted. ArtsFest 2009: Art & Power opens on Sunday, November 1 and continues through Saturday, November 7

 


Events include concerts, theatre performances, art exhibitions, readings, films, lectures and spontaneous acts including:

  • Performance Artist Holly Hughes
  • Town/gown relations investigated by Greencastle Service Theatre
  • Actors From the London Stage performing Shakespeare's King Lear
  • Renowned fiction writer Ron Carlson
  • DePauw Symphony Orchestra performing Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5
  • Music in Prison Camps I & II : Messian's "Quartet for the End of Time" and Chamber Music at Terezin, 1941 - 1945
  • Sonja Hinrichsen: a Peeler Galleries exhibition
  • V for Vendetta and other films
  • Art Attack for Children: Sunday, November 1
