Five Tigers named to all-SCAC team
Five DePauw players earned spots on the all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference first team. Dan Ryan was the lone Tiger selected to the offensive unit, while Alson Jacquet, Jason Geringer, David Blackburn and John Chrisophersen were named to the defensive team. Tigers' Bell streak ends on final play of game
Jake Knott's pass on the last play of the game glanced off of Ryan Short and into Kurt Casper's hands and the 52-yard score gave Wabash a 27-21 win at DePauw in the 108th meeting between the two schools. The last-second score erased DePauw's dramatic comeback that included a nine-play, 61-yard drive in 1:08 that culminated in Matt King's 1-yard run with 13.9 seconds left. Tigers finish SCAC play with 4-2 record after 45-22 win at Rose-Hulman
Jason Lee completed 26 of 42 passes for 307 yards and threw four touchdown passes in leading DePauw to a 45-22 win at Rose-Hulman. The Tigers totaled 538 yards of offense in the win. Meanwhile, the defense limited the Engineers to just 55 rushing yards and picked up seven turnovers from Rose-Hulman. Story

DePauw drops overtime heart-breaker to Centre

King named SCAC Player of the Week
Sophomore Matt King was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a career-high 199 yards on 35 carries in the Tigers' 35-8 win over Blackburn.

King and Rust top 100 yards rushing; defense shuts down Blackburn in 35-8 win
Sophomores Matt King and Jackson Rust each rushed for over 100 yards to lead the DePauw offense to 356 rushing yards, while the defense limited visiting Blackburn to just nine rushing yards and only 136 yards of offense in a 35-8 win. Story with stats, photos and video highlights

DePauw defeats Sewanee 34-18
Jason Lee threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns and the DePauw defense limited host Sewanee to just 225 yards of offense in the 34-18 win.Sewanee entered the game ranked fourth in Division III in total defense, but the Tigers finished with 447 total yards. Stephens named SCAC Player of the Week
Junior receiver John Stephens was named the SCAC Offensive Player of the Week after catching an SCAC-record 14 passes for 153 yards in a 30-27 loss at Hanover. He also added three punt returns for eight yards and five kickoff returns for 123 yards in totaling 284 all-purpose yards.

Tigers' fourth-quarter comeback falls short
The Tigers trailed 30-13 early in the fourth quarter and rallied to within three at 30-27 on a pair of Jason Lee to Dan Ryan touchdown passes. Lee completed 37 of 60 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns, but was intercepted three times. John Stephens had 14 catches for 153 yards, while Andy Tolle added nine catches for 78 yards. Stephens named to D3Football.com Team of the Week
Wide receiver John Stephens has earned a spot on the D3Football.com Team of the Week for his play against Rhodes College. In the Tigers' 38-17 win, Stephens totaled 13 catches for 140 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown.

Geringer named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week
Senior Jason Geringer was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 38-17 win over Rhodes. Geringer totaled 13 tackles, two tackles for loss including a sack and added a quarterback hurry as well as a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Tigers score 28 unanswered in second half to defeat Rhodes 38-17
Jason Lee completed 34 of 52 for 426 yards and three touchdowns, while John Stephens caught 13 for 140 yards and a score as the Tigers rallied from a 17-10 halftime deficit to defeat Rhodes in the season and SCAC opener, 38-17. Tigers host Rhodes in Community Day game
The DePauw football team begins defense of its 2000 SCAC tri-championship when it opens the season at home with Rhodes College. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. and admission is free for the Community Day contest. The game can be heard live on WGRE (91.5 FM) and on the Internet at this address. DePauw picked to finish second in SCAC race
In voting by the seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference head football coaches, the Tigers were picked to finish second in the SCAC behind nine-time defending champion Trinity. Trinity finished with 43 points and five first-place votes, while DePauw totaled 41 points and one first-place vote. Sewanee was third with 33 points. Those three school shared the 2000 title with Trinity moving on to represent the conference at the NCAA Championship and winning two games.

Senior quarterback Jason Lee, last year's SCAC Offensive Player of the Year, is the preseason pick to repeat that distinction this season. Junior receiver Dan Ryan was the other player to earn preseason all-conference honors on offense. Senior linebacker Jason Geringer shared preseason defensive player of the year honors with Sewanee linebacker Jason Wheat and was joined on the preseason defensive team by senior Alson Jacquet and juniors Charles Stanback and John Christophersen. DePauw was selected in the D3football.com top 30 in a preseason poll.
