March 14, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw, ranked 16th in Division III, is 4-4 on the season after splitting home matches with two nationally-ranked NCAA Division II programs. The Tigers dropped a 5-4 decision to eighth-ranked California (Pa.) before topping 23rd-ranked Grand Valley State, 6-3.
In the California match, the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play, but could manage just a win at number-six singles. DePauw took a 2-1 lead against Grand Valley State and closed the match out with wins at one, two, five and six singles.
DePauw's next action is set for March 23 when it faces Carleton and Oberlin in matches on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
