
October 5, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — The University of Chicago swept both the singles and doubles titles at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.

In singles action, Kendra Higgins defeated teammate Carmen Vaca Guzman by a 6-4, 6-2 count in a match which was contested today at the University of Chicago. Higgins and Chrissy Hu rallied to top Denison's Marta Drane and Kristin Cobb in the doubles final 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Higgins and Hu will represent the region at the ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala., October 15-18.
DePauw's top finishers included Greer Mackie and Kelly Gebert who advanced to the singles round of 16 before falling. The doubles team of Mackie and Kayla Smith made it to the semifinals before losing to Drane and Cobb 6-2, 6-2.
With the tournament, DePauw's fall season came to a close.
