Hodgkinson named DePauw's first volleyball all-American
Outside hitter Janie Hodgkinson has earned second team all-America
honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The junior
led the Tigers to a 32-6 record and their third appearance in the NCAA
Division III Championship. The all-America award is the first ever for
a DePauw volleyball player.

Freshman of the Year
Junior outside hitter Janie Hodgkinson was one of 12 players named to
the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region
Team. Hodgkinson led the Tigers with 4.41 kills per game and a .330
hitting percentage. She also paced the Tigers with 3.88 digs per game.
Jenny Wingstrom was named the region's Freshman of the Year after
finishing her first season with a .329 hitting percentage and a
team-high .89 blocks per game. The

The Tigers were well-represented on the all-Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference with four players earning honors. Janie Hodgkinson
and Betsy Corbitt were named to the first team with Kim Miller
selected to the second team and Jenny Wingstrom to the third team.

DePauw falls to Hope in NCAA first round
The Tigers' second appearance in three years in the NCAA Division III
Championship ended in a loss to Hope College at Wisconsin-Whitewater
in a Midwest Region first round match. Hope topped the Tigers 15-12,
2-15, 15-6, 15-8. The Tigers finished the season with a 32-6 record.

Tigers earn second NCAA bid in three years; face Hope College on
Thursday
The 15th-ranked and 32-5 Tigers earned their second bid in three years
to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship and will travel to
the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where they will take on Hope
College on Thursday.
15th-ranked DePauw closes regular season with 3-0 win over Hendrix
The Tigers defeated Hendrix in the final match of the SCAC
Cross-Divisional Tournament at Southwestern University by scores of
15-2, 15-4, 15-7 and finished the regular season with a 32-5 record.
The placed second in the SCAC for the third straight year with a 16-2
league mark. The 32 wins is the second most in school history behind
the 36 in 1990.

Tigers split Saturday matches at SCAC Cross-Divisional; lose
heart-breaker to Trinity
DePauw, ranked 15th in Division III, defeated Millsaps 3-0 and lost to
Trinity 3-2 in Saturday's SCAC Cross-Divisional play at Southwestern.
In the match against 10th-ranked Trinity, the Tigers won the first two
games, but dropped the final three and will finish second in the SCAC
standings. Jenny Wingstrom had 24 kills and Janie Hodgkinson 39 digs
in the Trinity match.

15th-ranked Tigers extend win streak to 14 with wins over Rhodes
and Souhwestern
The 15th-ranked Tigers defeated Rhodes 15-7, 15-1, 15-5 and
Southwestern 13-15, 15-11, 15-8, 15-6 at the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional at
Southwestern University to improve to 30-4 overall and 14-1 in the
SCAC. Janie Hodgkinson had 20 kills, 20 digs and five blocks in the
Southwestern match to lead the Tigers. Hodgkinson had 19 kills,
nine digs and three blocks in the win over Rhodes.

Tigers Ranked 15th in
Division III
The 28-4 Tigers cracked the top 20 of the American Volleyball Coaches
Association Division III poll and are ranked 15th. The Tigers have won
12 straight matches and compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference cross-divisional.
Hodgkinson
named SCAC Player of the Week for third time this year
Junior outside hitter Janie Hodgkinson has earned Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the third time this
year for her performances in five Tiger wins from October 21-29. In
addition to beating Manchester, the Tigers won the Midwest
Invitational at Calvin College, defeating two nationally ranked
opponents. For the tournament, she had 71 kills and just nine errors
on 146 total attacks, hitting at a .425 percentage to earn
all-tournament honors. Hodgkinson is second in the league in hitting
percentage (.318), leads the league in kills per game (4.47) and is
fifth in digs per game (3.63).
Tigers win Calvin Invitational with pair of 3-0 wins over
top-ranked teams
The Tigers improved to 28-4 on the season as they captured the Midwest
Invitational at Calvin College with 3-0 wins over 13th-ranked
Wittenberg (15-8, 15-13, 15-12) and seventh-ranked Mount St. Joseph
(15-13, 15-13, 15-5). Betsy Corbitt and Janie Hodgkinson were named to
the all-tournament team. Hodgkinson recorded 30 kills in the semifinal
match and had 18 in the championship tilt. Corbitt totaled 17 kills
and 25 digs in the Wittenberg match and 11 kills and 14 digs against
Mount St. Joseph.

DePauw wins two at Midwest Invitational to improve to 26-4
The Tigers opened pool play at the Midwest Invitational at Calvin
College with a pair of victories to improve to 26-4 on the season and
stretch their win streak to 10 straight matches. DePauw, ranked
seventh in the Great Lakes Region, knocked off Hanover 15-1, 15-6,
15-4 before beating the fifth-ranked team in the region, Calvin, 15-5,
6-15, 15-10, 15-7.

Tigers finish home season with perfect 9-0 mark at Neal Fieldhouse
The Tigers improved to 24-4 on the season with a 15-1, 15-7, 15-4 win
over visiting Manchester College for their eighth straight victory.
The match marked the final regular season competition at the Neal
Fieldhouse for seniors Lora Alvey, Betsy Corbitt and Kim Miller. They
complete their home careers with a perfect 9-0 mark at the Neal
Fieldhouse this fall. Corbitt led the Tigers with 12 kills and a .579
hitting percentage. Janie Hodgkinson added 10 kills and 11 digs and
Miller totaled 34 assists. Alvey finished with a .462 hitting
percentage.

Senior setter Kim Miller of totaled 216 assists in 16 games last week for an average of 13.5 per
game to earn

Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. Miller also had five service aces and 22 digs as the Tigers went
5-0 including 4-0 in SCAC matches. For the season, Miller is second in the league in assists per game (11.29).
DePauw completes sweep of SCAC East
The Tigers improved to 23-4 overall and 12-1 in the SCAC with a 15-2,
15-8, 17-15 win over Oglethorpe and a 15-5, 15-11, 15-8 victory over
host Centre at the second SCAC Eastern Division Tournament.

DePauw improved to 21-4 overall and 10-1 in the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference with a pair of 3-0 wins at the SCAC Divisional
Tournament at Centre. The Tigers beat Sewanee 15-3, 15-7, 15-7 and
Rose-Hulman 15-8, 15-4, 15-5.
DePauw rebounds after slow start to defeat visiting Millikin
The Tigers started slow as they fell behind 11-1 in the first game
before losing 15-13. However, they came back to win the last three
games and take a victory over visiting Millikin to improve to 19-4 on
the season. DePauw also established a single-game attendance record
with over 500 fans on hand for the Tigers' 12th victory in the last 13
matches.

Tigers improve to 14-3
with wins over Marian and Maryville
The Tigers rallied from being down 2-0 to Marian to defeat the
Knights 3-2 (13-15, 9-15, 15-11, 15-7, 15-9) in the first of two
matches at the Neal Fieldhouse. In the second match, the Tigers
defeated Maryville 3-0 (15-4, 15-6, 15-9). Against Marian, Janie
Hodgkinson totaled 19 kills and 20 digs, while Betsy Corbitt recorded
15 kills and 21digs. Kimberly Miller led the Tigers with 50 assists
and Lora Alvey had eight total blocks (six solos). In the Maryville
match Jenny Wingstrom paced DePauw with nine kills and Hodgkinson
added eight. Corbitt had seven digs with Renee Meyrose adding six.

Junior Janie Hodgkinson earned Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season
as she shared the award with Trinity's Morgan Anderson. Hodgkinson
averaged 5.33 kills and posted a .389 attack percentage in the Tigers'
five wins during the week.

Hanover Invitational MVP honors over the weekend. In the Tigers' five
wins, Hodgkinson averaged 4.18 kills per game (71 total in 17 games)
and posted a .320 attack percentage. She also had six service aces and
67 digs.

DePauw defeated Indiana-Southeast in three games in the
championship match to capture the Hanover Invitational. The Tigers won
by scores of 15-4, 15-13, 15-8. Earlier, they defeated Kalamazoo 15-5,
15-5, 10-15, 15-8 in the semifinals. DePauw was perfect in pool play
with wins over Anderson, Franklin and Earlham. Junior Janie Hodgkinson
was named the tournament MVP and freshman Jenny Wingstrom earned a
spot on the all-tournament team. The 5-0 tournament
record lifts DePauw's overall mark to 7-2.

The Tigers improved to 2-2 on the season with 3-0 wins over host
Thomas More and Urbana. Janie Hodgkinson led the Tigers with 13 kills

Tigers drop first two
matches at Thomas More tournament
DePauw opened the 2000 season by dropping its first two matches at the
Thomas More tournament. The Tigers lost to number-nine ranked Mount
St. Joseph 10-15, 5-15, 7-15 and then to 15th-ranked Ohio Northern
15-11, 12-15, 7-15, 15-5, 9-15. Janie Hodgkinson led the Tigers with
14 kills against Mount St. Joseph and 22 against Ohio Northern.

in SCAC preseason poll
In a preseason poll of SCAC coaches, the Tigers were picked to finish
second to Trinity in this year's conference standings. The Tigers
received 88 points and one first-place vote, while Trinity totaled 99
points and nine first-place votes.
