Tigers earn academic honors from
College Swimming Coaches Association of America
DePauw posted a team grade point
average of 3.26 during the spring semester to earn team academic honors
for the 14th straight year from the College Swimming Coaches Association
of America. Individually, Katie Reis earned honors with a 4.0 semester
GPA, while Lauren Hawley and Lauren Rakes were honorable mention
selections for posting at least a 3.5 semester GPA and notching NCAA
provisional qualifying times. More from the

Reis earns Verizon Academic
All-America honors
Katie Reis, a 2003 DePauw graduate
and member of the women's swimming and diving team, has been
selected to the Verizon College Division Women's At-Large
Academic All-America Second Team. The teams are selected by the
College Sports Information Directors of America.

Reis earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
DePauw senior Katie Reis, a member of the
DePauw swimming and diving team, is among 58 awardees who participated in
winter sports to receive an NCAA
postgraduate scholarship. She is the 17th DePauw student-athlete
to earn the prestigious honor since 1968.

Tigers finish 27th at NCAA Championships; Reis earns fifth all-America
honor
The Tigers placed 27th at the NCAA Division III Championships at Emory
University in Atlanta, and senior Katie Reis earned all-America honors for
the fifth time as she placed seventh in the 200 back in 2:08.79.

Four Tigers set to compete at Division III Championships
Seniors Julie Culbertson and Katie Reis as well as sophomore Amy Beth
Allen and freshman Megan Davenport will represent DePauw at the NCAA
Division III Championships at Emory University in Atlanta, March 13-15.
Reis enters the meet as a four-time all-American two top eight finishes
each in the 100 and 200 back each of the last two years. She is seeded
seventh in the 200 back this year and 15th in the 100 back. Allen earned
honorable mention all-America honors last year in both the 100 fly and the
200 back. Reis, Allen and Culbertson were each part of last year's 200
medley relay that placed 11th in the nation. Follow the meet

DePauw captures first SCAC Championship
The Tigers totaled 944.5 points and held off Trinity which finished with
862.5 points to capture its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
title. Coach Mary Bretscher was named the SCAC Coach of the Year.

Tigers prepare for Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championships
The 2003 SCAC Championships, hosted by
Hendrix College, will be held Thursday, February 20, through Saturday,
February 22, at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. Returning to
the Championships is last year's co-Swimmer of the Year Amy Beth Allen and
Diver of the Year Sarah Eiler. Allen captured titles in the 100 fly, 200
back and 200 IM last year, while Eiler won on both boards. Another
defending champion for the Tigers is Katie Reis returns to defend her

Tigers finish dual season with win at Rose-Hulman
DePauw finished its dual meet portion of the season with a 6-3 record
after a 152-49 win at Rose-Hulman. Katie Reis established a school record
in the 400 IM in 4:44.01.

The Tigers slipped to 5-3 on the season after losing to visiting
University of Indianapolis by a 178-116 score. Megan Davenport broke her
own 200 free school record with a time of 1:58.58.

DePauw placed third at the Wabash
Invitational with 474 points behind Indianapolis' 694 and Wheaton's 543.
Megan Davenport established a school record in the 200 free in 1:59.51
and broke the previous record that she shared with Kathryn Heeke. The
200 medley relay of Katie Reis, Lauren Hawley, Amy Beth Allen and
Davenport notched a faster NCAA "B" cut than previously in 1:50.79. The
200 free relay of Denise Vidas, Katie Beehler, Katie Payne and Lauren
Rakes won in 1:42.59.

Tigers drop heartbreaker to Wheaton, 112-111
DePauw fell to 4-2 on the season after a
heartbreaking, 112-111 loss at the Erdmann Natatorium. Amy Beth Allen
notched an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 fly in 59.01, while the 200 medley
relay of Katie Reis, Lauren Hawley, Allen and Megan Davenport did so as
well in 1:51.40.

DePauw loses close meet with
Washington, 127-115
In a meet that wasn't decided until the final event which was
decided by .5 second, visiting Washington (Mo.) defeated DePauw 127-115.
Megan Davenport won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, while Julie
Culbertson posted a "B" cut in the 200 breast. Also earning firsts were
Amy Beth Allen in the 200 IM, Sarah Eiler in one-meter diving and Katie
Reis in the 200 back. The Tigers won the 400 medley relay as well.

Tigers improve to 4-0 with wins over Centre
and Transylvania
DePauw remained unbeaten with a 161-55 win over Centre and a
135-82 victory over Transylvania.

Amy Beth Allen notched a provisional cut in the 200 fly to lead the
Tigers to a 153-78 victory over host Sewanee.

DePauw opened the 2002-03 season with a 182-115 victory over
visiting Hope. Megan Davenport tied the school record in the 200 free
and the 200 medley relay of Katie Reis, Lauren Hawley, Amy Beth Allen
and Davenport notched an NCAA provisional mark. Allen also made a
provision cut in both the 100 fly and 200 back.
