Program Overview

Welcome to all prospective students! Below you'll find information about some of the projects ITAP students are working on around campus. Look around to find out more about ITAP and the students involved in ITAP.

Web Site Design - ITAP associates learn Web design and development skills during their ITAP apprenticeship. Using these skills, ITAP students often design and create Web siStudents in Digital Audio Labtes for academic departments and offices at DePauw. Some of these departments include:
  • Science Fiction Studies
  • Faculty Instructional Technology Support
  • WGRE (campus radio station)
  • Information Services
  • The Office of the President
  • 361 Consulting

Database Design - ITAP apprentices learn database skills during their ASP/Database rotation. Students create high level databases for use by DePauw students in various classes and progams. ITAP associates have created databases for:

  • Art History Department
  • Web Team
  • Office of Admission
  • Alumni Relations

Digital Audio - ITAP apprentices and associates with interests in digital audio work in DePauw's Music Instructional Technology Center (mitc). MITC students work with faculty and staff to provide:

  • One-on-one consulting to explore ideas about using digital audio resources in or outside of class
  • Equipment & software in the mitc office and computer lab for faculty and students to learn and experiment with digital audio software and hardware
  • On-demand audio recording and media conversion services
  • Team-based support for instructional technology projects

Digital Video Recording and Editing - ITAP associates have access to the laboratory facilities at the Eugene S. Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media (PCCM) to learn the latest innovations in digital video. ITAP associates work for the campus television station, D3TV, and work on the most advanced video projects on campus. Students have created videos for DePauw's 361° Initiatives, the Programs of Distiction, and the Monon Bell Football Classic.

Customer Service - Students in ITAP also have the opportunity to work at the Information Services Help Desk, providing customer support for the campus population. Help Desk associates interact with faculty, students, and staff. ITAP associates do all of the following:

  • Answer questions and help find solutions for computing problems
  • Log repair & installation requests for University-owned technology equipment in offices, computer labs & technology classrooms
  • Reset forgotten passwords to DePauw computing accounts
  • Refer computing problems to appropriate campus IT experts if additional assistance is required

Student Training - ITAP Associates serve as the student directors of the Student Technology Support program. It provides students with the opportunity to assess and improve their technical skills by completing technical needs assessments, participating in hands-on, student-led workshops, and certifying their skills via the nationally recognized Tek.Xam.

Marketing - Students work with members of the ITAP Administration to disseminate information to prospective students and their parents about the program. ITAP Marketing Directors are also responsible for creating promotional materials for the program, speaking with prospective students, and developing the ITAP Newsletter.
