Competency
Requirements
All music majors are
required to demonstrate competence in writing (W) by the end of
the junior year. In addition, all music majors must demonstrate competence in oral communication
skills (S) by the time of graduation. For B.M.E. degree students,
S certification is earned through student teaching.
Students in the School
of Music, with the exception of those enrolled in the five-year double degree program, are not required to demonstrate competency in quantitative
reasoning (Q).
Music majors in the College
of Liberal Arts (working on the B.A. degree) must demonstrate competence
in writing (W), quantitative reasoning (Q), and oral communication
skills (S).
