Swipe card access to the GCPA and extended hours are a privilege. With this privilege comes personal responsibility. The care and maintenance of this building are the responsibility of each and every person using the facility.
This privilege is granted as the result of a cooperative agreement amongst several individuals and offices across campus. Accordingly, each stakeholder has required certain responsibilities and expectations of the users of the GCPA.
It is expected that users of the GCPA who have been afforded the privilege of extended access and swipe card access will do the following:
- Avoid allowing individuals who are not granted extended or swipe card access into the building after the outside doors are locked;
- Utilize their swipe cards for their own purposes without loaning their cards to other individuals;
- Ensure that locked doors remain closed (Avoid propping doors open. If locked doors are open, please close them promptly.);
- Secure their valuables (instruments, book bags, purses, computers, etc.);
- Report any loss or theft promptly to Public Safety and the ID office;
- Pick up after themselves and properly dispose of food and beverages;
- Refrain from eating food or drinking beverages, other than water, in the rehearsal spaces and practice rooms;
- Submit any and all malfunction reports to the Faculty Secretary so that issues can be addressed in a timely manner;
- Avoid being alone in the building;
- Leave the building prior to 3am without waiting to be asked to exit the building by Public Safety staff members (Public Safety staff members should not have to remind users that the building is closing and then have to wait for them to put their instruments up, get their belongings, etc.);
- Assume responsibility for the well being of the building and its furnishings (Take care of the furnishings by refraining from placing shoes on the furniture and by moving furniture from is original placement); and,
- Assume responsibility for reporting to Public Safety any activities that threaten the safety of others or the furniture or well being of the building.
Users are asked to keep in mind the following:

- Public Safety staff members will be patrolling the building more frequently;
- The GCPA is a place for activities and academic and co-curricular use, not a place for sleeping; and
