On September 15, DePauw President Brian Casey signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, pledging to neutralize the greenhouse gas emissions and increase environmental awareness on campus. In support of DePauw's climate commitment, we have completed a carbon analysis of the forests at the Nature Park. Click here to read the report.

The Bartlett Reflection Center and Prindle Institute for Ethics are new facilities located on the east side of the Nature Park. These buildings are accessible via the M3 or C3/C4 Connector trails, and also by vehicle or bicycle from County Road 220/225 South (see map).

Both facilities are part of the Nature Park and are governed by Park hours and rules. Unlike the campus proper and related facilities, the Nature Park is an abandoned limestone quarry developed into a park setting with several miles of trails, a variety of habitats, bodies of water, cliffs and unpredictable terrain. Given the uncommon and somewhat isolated setting, accessibility, planning of events and use of the Park as well as the Reflection Center and Prindle Institute should take into consideration the unique characteristics of the Park environment. Please contact the Park staff to plan events in advance and learn more about the available resources.
Inquiries about the Prindle Institute should be directed to the Ethics Center 765-658-4075. The Reflection Center opened October 1, 2008 and will be formally dedicated during April 2009. Any questions about use of the Reflection Center should be directed to the Nature Park Director, (765) 658-5018.
