On October 25, the weather was chilly but dry.
Students spent time outside, walking along part of
the Rail Trail, and answering questions about trees
and other signs of life at the Nature Park.

The 5th grade class from Cloverdale visited the Nature Park for field trips on October 25 and 27, 2006. There were about 40 students each day. The visits were arranged and led by Megan Michael, intern from DePauw University.

The activities were:

  • investigating soil compaction
  • observing soil layers
  • observing trees
  • observing tree rings
  • observing animal tracks
  • observing seeds
  • interactive acorn mix-up game
  • going up to the observation tower at the Welcome Center
  • walking part of the Rail Trail
