Yellow-rumped Warbler

A large warbler. Back is gray with black streaks, white wing bars, black cheeks, yellow rump, yellow patch on side in front of each wing, yellow crown patch, white throat.
Habitat:
Open forests.
Voice:
Song is a musical trill, often in two-note phrases, “chee chee chee chee cheedle cheedle.” Call is a loud “tup” or “check.”
Name Origin:
The genus name Setophaga is from the Greek for "moth eater." The species name coronata is from the Latin for "crowned," referring to its yellow crown.
In the Nature Park:
Migrant. Stops over for one to two weeks during spring and fall migration.
