Wild Strawberry

Leaves:
Each leaf has three leaflets. Leaflets are about 3 inches long, 1 1/2 inch wide, pale green underneath, with coarsely serrated margins.
Flowers:
Flower is about 3/4 inch in diameter with 5 white petals and about 25 yellow stamens surrounding a small blunt cone.
Fruit:
Fruit is a small red berry, about 0.5 inch long, shaped like the familiar cultivated strawberry. Fruit is edible, sweet.
More Information:
The genus name Fragaria is from the Latin fraga for “strawberry,” derived from fragum for “fragrant.”
