Leaves:
Leaves are oval or round, 1 to 2 inches long. Edges of leaves are smooth or have rounded lobes.
Flowers:
Flowers are small, greenish-white to pink, in small clusters at the ends of stems.
Fruit:
Fruit is a soft berry, coral-pink or red. Coralberry is the only member of this genus that produces pink or red fruits. Fruits ripen during late summer and fall.
Seeds:
Fruit contains two seeds. Seeds are convex on one side and flat on the other side.
Roots:
Coralberry has extensive underground rhizomes.
More Information:
The genus name Symphoricarpos is from the Greek for "clustered fruits." The species name orbiculatus is from the Latin for "disc-shaped" or "circular."
