Star Chickweed

Flowers:
Flowers have five deeply cleft white petals. Flower looks star-like with white pointed petals. Flower looks like it has ten petals but there are actually five petals that are deeply cleft. Stamens are tipped with dark anthers. Flowers are larger, showier than Common Chickweed flowers.

The genus name Stellaria is from Latin word "stellar" meaning star-like. The species name pubera means hairy, referring to hair-covered stem.
