Greetings from the President

DePauw’s Bold & Gold 2027 Strategic Plan is the culmination of 18 months of campuswide collaboration and the collective insights, recommendations and feedback from students, staff, faculty and alumni, supported by a 14-member steering committee made up of constituents across campus.

The “why” of our plan is simple:  we must combine intellectual rigor with profound social and cocurricular experiences in ways that equip our students to succeed.  And crucially, we must do so in a way that prepares them for leadership in a society marked by rapid transformation, robust diversity, skepticism of higher education, the demand need for new and more student support services and career guidance, financial need that is at an all-time high and an explosion of new industries and careers.

Two primary principles have remained the heart of our efforts throughout the process:

• The liberal arts and sciences have always been foundational for preparing students for lives of creativity, service and leadership in a changing world, and our commitment to that mission remains steadfast, but how we fulfill our mission as a liberal arts college must evolve.
• We believe a DePauw education must become accessible and relevant to talented young people from all walks of life.
• This plan is a roadmap, but our success will come through continued collaboration, feedback and evolution.

As we work to bring this plan to life, we commit to doing so in partnership with those who love DePauw and desire to see the institution strong and thriving for its next 185 years, and we will work diligently to ensure that our faculty and staff have the resources to bring this vision to life for our students.
