My research goal is divided into three topical areas: the fundamental drivers of biodiversity and how these apply to microbial community, microbial biodiversity in human-dominated ecosystems (including agricultural practices) and the use of microbial community structure as a biomarker for assessing stream functional integrity to complement the benthic macroinvertebrate sampling.
