Apply for an Indiana State ID

Indiana offers the option for residents to apply for a non-driver ID card. This card is especially for those residents who are unable to obtain a driver’s license or do not want one. This Indiana State ID card can serve as proof of your age, identity, and residence.

International students are eligible to apply for this ID at the local Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) office and will need to provide certain documents for the application In addition, there will be a small application fee.

Note: Individuals cannot hold both an Indiana Driver’s License and an Indiana State ID card at the same time. However, students may choose to get an Indiana State ID first, then replace it if they choose to apply for (and receive) a Driver's license later.

State ID cards are valid for 6 years from the date of issue.
