Safety at DePauw
DePauw Public Safety
DePauw has comprehensive Public Safety resources, including its own police department, campus building security, a 24-hour call center, and safe ride transportation on campus after dark.
If you are experiencing an emergency on DePauw’s campus, please call 765-658-5555. If you are experiencing an emergency outside of campus, call 911.
Title IX Resources
DePauw, like many U.S. higher education institutions in the U.S., abides by the Higher Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX). As a result of this, the university provides resources against the discrimination of a person based on sex, gender, or race through its Title IX Office.
PHISHING SCAM SAFETY
Recently, phishing scams through text, call, social media, and email have become more frequent across all college campuses. Phishing scams trick internet users (through familiar looking links or contacts) into sharing sensitive information or photos that can be used against them; often, a phishing scam will use this information to get money. Be careful about clicking any links that are shared with you through unknown contacts. On social media, be careful about sharing any sensitive information or photos with strangers.
Scams Targeted at International Students
International students must be especially careful about messages about visa, tuition, housing, or scholarships from an unknown contact. Unfortunately, some international students are targeted by people posing as official university staff in order to get their money. If it is not the official university office (with “@depauw.edu” at the end of their email) check with intlstudents@depauw.edu before you share any information or money.
