Prescription Medicine and Pharmacies

Students go to a variety of local pharmacies on campus for their prescription drugs. In the U.S., pharmacists cannot prescribe medicine. To receive medicine in the U.S. from a pharmacy, you will have to bring your prescription orders with you, or plan to see a DePauw Health doctor to get a prescription ordered.

Insurance Card

In the U.S., you must have a copy of your insurance card to receive treatment or pay for prescription medicine. Your health insurance card will be shared with you shortly after arrival to the United States, either via email or through the International Student Portal. Refer to the Insurance Fee website for more information about insurance costs.

Dentists and Optometrists

Because dental and optometry work are not covered on your insurance plan, you will likely have to pay the full cost of any work. For this reason, it is recommended that you schedule any routine dental or eye work when you are in your home country.

Immunization

All students upload proof of , which are checked by university staff. Some students who arrived with incomplete immunizations will be put on immunization holds, which can only be withdrawn with a record of immunization plans.
