Off-campus Study
DePauw encourages all students, including international students, to study off-campus for at least one semester. International students, just like all students at DePauw, are eligible to take their financial aid with them for use off-campus. In addition, most of the program providers DePauw partners with offer their own scholarships, grants & in some cases loans available to all participants.
If you intend to study off campus, it is important that you do your research and plan well ahead, typically at least a year in advance. Reach out to the Off-Campus Study Office to get more information about the opportunities for off-campus study, ask questions, and discuss how and when to plan your semester away from campus, or research available programs on the website at offcampus.depauw.edu.
International Students who study outside of the United States are permitted to do so, maintaining their I-20 throughout. They will still need to maintain their status while abroad, as well as abide by visa and immigration requirements outlined by the country where they are studying.
Navigating the Visa Process for Off-Campus StudyWell in advance of studying off-campus, students who study outside of the United States will need to do their research into visa requirements and rules for their respective destination. The rules and requirements for visas vary by country. While the Off-Campus Study Office can provide some assistance in navigating the application process, the responsibility of researching the process and securing the visa are the responsibility of the student.
For visa information you should refer to the Government website of the country where you will be studying for the most up to date, accurate and authoritative information. The off-campus program will also provide you with visa information and supporting documentation.
