Sprintax Calculus: Submitting Tax Forms to DePauw
All international students will be required to submit tax paperwork to DePauw directly, in addition to the requirement that they submit tax paperwork to the United States government (at the state and federal level). This page will address common questions about submitting tax paperwork to DePauw.
There are two tools that students use to submit tax paperwork:
-
Sprintax Calculus: Students use this platform to submit their tax forms to DePauw in the case that they work for DePauw or receive other payments (stipends, awards) from DePauw. This tool makes sure that the appropriate amount of tax is taken out of your paycheck or other payments that you receive from the university.
-
Sprintax Returns: Students use this platform to submit their tax documentation to the United States government (at the state and federal level) for the prior tax year. More information about Sprintax Returns can be found on the File Your Taxes with Sprintax webpage.
Students can find more information about submitting their tax paperwork to the U.S. government elsewhere on the International Student Affairs Tax webpages.
Sprintax Calculus: More Information
Students should refer to the Sprintax Calculus FAQ for more information about what Sprintax Calculus is and what it does.
When Do I Need to Submit Tax Paperwork to DePauw?
All students should complete the Sprintax Calculus Forms at the beginning of every calendar year. For those students who arrive for classes in the Fall, they should complete their Sprintax Calculus forms prior to the beginning of classes.
What is the Difference between Sprintax Calculus and Sprintax Returns?
Sprintax Returns assists students in preparing their tax documentation to submit to the United States Federal and/or State governments by the annual April 15 deadline.
Sprintax Calculus should be submitted every calendar year as early in the year as possible. The information provided students in these forms is used to prepare appropriate tax documentation for federal and state tax filing the following year.
If I Don’t Have a Job, Do I Need to Submit Sprintax Calculus Forms?
Yes. There may be other payments that you receive from the university, including stipends, awards, or research grants that international students receive. To make sure that they are appropriately taxed, you should submit your Sprintax Calculus Forms.
