This course provides an introduction to camerawork, sound recording, lighting and editing in digital filmmaking, with short units on short film screenwriting and working with actors. Prior experience in film production not required.

195A: Intro/Digital Film Production

This introductory digital film production course explores and practices the essential elements of filmmaking, including cinematography, sound, scriptwriting, editing, and collaboration. Through hands-on experience, students will learn to visualize and auralize stories effectively and artistically. The course aims to familiarize students with the entire filmmaking process, encourage collaboration, and develop an understanding of artistic approaches to technique. Ultimately, it seeks to expand students' cinematic perspectives and foster their creative expression.
