Dr. Wendy C. Grenade -
Is a Grenadian who holds a PhD and MA in International Studies, the University of Miami with concentrations in Comparative Politics and International Relations and an MA in Human Resource Management, University of Westminster, London. She is currently a Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining SGU in August 2022, she was employed as an Adjunct Professor at Florida Atlantic University and as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Miami, European Union Center (2005-2006). For the past sixteen years Dr. Grenade was employed with the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus as a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Political Science. She served as Deputy Dean (Outreach and Graduate Studies), Faculty of Social Sciences and as Head, Department of Government, Sociology, Social Work and Psychology. For twenty years, Dr. Grenade was also employed with the Government of Grenada in the Grenada Public Service and the Grenada Diplomatic Service; with postings in Washington D.C. and London. She has authored over twenty peer reviewed articles. She is the editor of Grenada Revolution: Reflections and Lessons (2015) University Press of Mississippi. Dr. Grenade has presented papers at several conferences in the Caribbean, Latin America and North America.
Philip Kukielski -
Earned degrees with honors from the University of Notre Dame and Columbia University. He is a journalist who spent most of his career working as a writer and editor at The Providence Journal in Rhode Island, then the largest circulation newspaper in southern New England. In 1985, he wrote a Sunday magazine story about a local Marine pilot who was one of the 19 Americans killed in the fighting on Grenada. He later served as a managing editor of The Journal for 16 years. After retiring in 2012, Kukielski researched and wrote The U.S. Invasion of Grenada: Legacy of a Flawed Victory, (McFarland, 2019), a book mostly sourced to his interviews with Grenada veterans and freshly declassified military oral histories and monographs. Spin-off articles by him from his book were subsequently published in two military journals: Naval History and Air Commando Journal. WorldCat now lists the book in the collections of more than 150 university and research libraries in 24 countries.
Dr. Gary Williams -
Joined the University of Essex in 2007. He was previously a Senior Science Manager at the UK Economic and Social Research Council and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh. He has a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Hull, a MA in War Studies from King's College London, and a BA in History from the University of Essex. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Latin American Studies, the Journal of Imperial and Commonwealth History, Twentieth Century British History, the European Review of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and The Round Table. He authored US-Grenada Relations: From Revolution to Intervention (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007) and co-edited with Patsy Lewis and Peter Clegg) Grenada – Revolution and Invasion (University of the West Indies Press, 2015). His research has been funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council and the British Academy.
