Museums can take a variety of forms, serving as repositories of cultural, scientific and historical information. By exploring how these diverse institutions curate collections and cultivate experiences, the museum studies minor gives you the foundation you need to apply both the art and science of collecting in its many different forms. Prioritizing an open-minded and innovative approach, this program invites you to discover how you can enrich your community, address important societal issues and increase access and representation within your chosen field.
Through the DePauw University Collection and other outside collections that appear in the galleries of the Peeler Art Center, you will have the opportunity to interact with real works of art every semester. You can also choose to take advantage of a variety of off-campus learning opportunities and internships, ranging from large national museums to smaller local institutions. Whether you are interested in curation or gallery management, art conservation or education, this minor is a dynamic complement to other major areas of study.
