A theatre degree from DePauw gives you the best of both worlds: extensive preparation for a career in the performing arts, as well as dynamic skills that prove valuable far beyond the stage. With a course of study spanning from performance and production to history and theory, our theatre program will equip you with a foundation in acting, directing, design and stagecraft, while also introducing you to the cultural and societal contexts that have shaped theatre’s development. In the process, you will discover why theatre students at DePauw are versatile problem-solvers, prized for their ability to think on their feet and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
Because our lab is the theatre, our students are encouraged to participate in live performances, either on the stage or as part of the design of technical crews. But why stop there? You will also have the opportunity to write and direct plays in our black box theatre, spend a semester off campus, land an internship, participate in the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and join the national theatre honor society Alpha Psi Omega.
