Lunch Box Music
This series brings live music to downtown Greencastle over the lunch hour with free 50-minute musical presentations at Music on the Square. Enjoy a catered lunch or bring your own and take a break from a busy work day with the DePauw University School of Music!

Mexico is famous for its mariachis, but there is also a wealth of classical music by Mexican composers. Juventino Rosas, for example, wrote a waltz that became so internationally famous that for many years it was misattributed to Johann Strauss II! This free 50-minute presentation offers an introduction to Rosas and Mexican composer María Grever, shining a spotlight on their most famous works.

Eric Edberg, cello, and Claude Cymerman, piano

Pianist Claude Cymerman and cellist Eric Edberg, both emeritus music professors, share their 35-year continuing musical friendship with favorite romantic pieces for cello and piano, as well as their own transcriptions of songs by Strauss and Korngold. Edberg, principal cellist of the Lafayette Symphony, is the founding artistic director of the Greencastle Summer Music Festival, which will celebrate its 20th season in 2024. Cymerman, a celebrated pianist with a long international career, has performed in the festival more than anyone else other than Edberg. Audience members have appreciated their special musical chemistry since they began performing together in 1988.
