Trombonist Joseph Aumann is proud to join the music faculty at Depauw University, with the 2023-24 school year, teaching trombone and euphonium. He currently is serving as the Assistant Principal/Second Trombonist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, a position he began in September 2022. He has held former positions as the Principal Trombone of the Dubuque Symphony and held a one year position as the Second Trombonist of the Alabama Symphony. He has performed with other ensembles such as the Milwaukee Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic, and the Richmond Symphony (IN), among others.
A committed teacher, Prof. Aumann previously has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Talladega College, in addition to teaching low brass in school districts in Birmingham (AL), Noblesville (IN), and Eau Claire, Milwaukee, and Fond du Lac (WI).
Hailing from Hartford (WI), Joseph attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for his Bachelor of Music degree. He subsequently completed a Master of Music at Northwestern University and a Performer Diploma at Indiana University-Bloomington.
