Kathleen Swayze

A violinist and violist, originally from northern Virginia, Kathleen Swayze earned music education degrees from Indiana University and Butler University. She taught middle school orchestra for 23 years, the last 15 of which were at Zionsville Middle School. A published composer of string orchestra music for young people and sought-after guest clinician and speaker, Kathleen was awarded Outstanding Middle School Music Educator by the Indiana Music Educators Association.

Eliza Brown is a composer of concert music, music-theater and opera, whose works have been performed throughout the Americas and Europe by leading interpreters of new music, including Ensemble Dal Niente, Spektral Quartet, International Contemporary Ensemble, Network for New Music, Ensemble SurPlus, Quince Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, and Wild Rumpus New Music Collective.
Mica Redden

Horn player and composer, Mica Redden (they/them), earned their Bachelor of Music degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. They went on to receive their Master of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where they also pursued their Doctor of Music degree. Mica maintains a busy studio and freelancing career in Indianapolis.

Scott Spiegelberg is interested in the perception of timbre, theory pedagogy, improvisation, and popular music analysis. He is researching how much average listeners are aware of timbre, what timbral sources they can identify, and how much information about timbral sources and qualities affect music enjoyment.
Elissa Harbert

Elissa Harbert is an award-winning musicologist specializing in musical theater, with broad expertise in music of the U.S. and Europe. Her research focuses on Broadway musicals as they intersect with gender, race and ethnicity, cultural memory, and historical representation. She teaches a wide variety of musicology courses and is affiliated faculty with Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

C. Matthew Balensuela is a musicologist who teaches a variety of classes for both music majors and non-majors. His research interests have included early music theory, pedagogy, and popular music.
Veronica Pejril

Veronica Pejril composes new and experimental music and teaches methods in contemporary music making with digital tools. An alumna of the Experimental Music Studios at the University of Illinois and the Computer Music Center at Princeton, she studied composition with Paul Lansky, Steven Mackey and Milton Babbitt.
