University Band CD Project
In the Spring of 1996, the DePauw University Band embarked upon a project to produce quality compact disc recordings of the best contemporary band music. The goals of the project include:
- Promote interest in quality band literature through recordings of new and existing works for winds and percussion
- Highlight the skills and talents of the DePauw University School of Music’s instrumental program
- Provide a valuable recording experience for DePauw musicians through the rigor and discipline of recording in a professional atmosphere
The band world is in the midst of an exciting period of change, development, and improvement, as is evident in its vast array of literature. As we begin the twenty-first century, it is interesting to observe that much of the literature is gradually being recorded, particularly through the use of today’s advancements in computerized digital recording equipment and techniques.
The DePauw University Band, through the CD Recording Project, is actively taking part in the cutting edge of digital wind recording technology and contributing to the ever-expanding realm of recorded wind literature.
