It is our goal to make DePauw as affordable as possible to as many families as possible. To achieve this, financial aid can take several different forms depending on your unique circumstances. We’re here to make sure you understand the different types of aid available while connecting you to the resources that will empower your educational journey at DePauw.
Merit aid is awarded based on a student’s academic records, artistic achievement or other criteria determined by the institution. This type of aid is awarded without consideration of a student’s ability to pay or financial need.
Need-based aid is based on completion of the financial aid application. Grants, like scholarships, do not need to be repaid. Need-based grants are funded by DePauw and the federal government, as well as some states and outside organizations.
Self-help aid includes financing options (such loans or payment plans) and student employment opportunities, all of which are designed to help make education more affordable. Loans require a form of repayment as determined by the nature and the terms of the loan agreement.
Tuition exchange and remission programs provide educational benefits to eligible employees and their dependents at participating institutions. DePauw University participates in Tuition Exchange (TE) and the Great Lakes Colleges Association Tuition Remission Exchange (GLCA-TRE).
