This notice and page is to keep you informed of a cybersecurity incident that has impacted systems maintained by DePauw University. We are working diligently to restore full operations.
On October 31, DePauw University detected that it was the target of a cybersecurity incident impacting our network environment. Upon detection, we immediately took steps to secure our network, investigate and determine the nature of the incident, and enhance our network security measures.
We have been working with federal law enforcement and external experts to conduct a comprehensive forensic investigation to analyze the extent of any potential data compromise. Although the investigation is ongoing, the preliminary investigation has revealed that a limited amount of data on specific individuals was accessed.
Those individuals whose data was compromised have received a notification via mail and we will provide them with resources to protect their identity. We regret the impact this incident has had on our community, and we are reviewing all our current security protocols and adding additional measures to enhance security as needed.

We are reviewing all our current security protocols and adding additional security measures as needed to prevent this from happening again. IT professionals conducted a thorough investigation and provided recommendations for security enhancement.
