Raising the Bar

When Kylie leads her team onto the court, she is ready to get into the game. As a rising senior on DePauw’s women’s basketball team, the younger players feed on her energy and commitment to winning the season. Kylie remarks, “I am a firm believer in leading by example, no matter how small the opportunity. There is always someone watching, taking the things you do and say to heart.”

Kylie started at DePauw a strong player, but it was her peers and teammates who pushed her to take a more leading role on campus. It began when a classmate encouraged her to bring a club she enjoyed in high school to DePauw. Kylie took the steps to get it running and now, two years later, she is passing on its leadership to other DePauw students. Kylie’s influence continues out into the community, both within her sorority and through volunteer philanthropy work. 

“What I like about DePauw is the work ethic of the students. Our combined strength contributes to an outstanding university experience. We push one another to excel in our academic endeavors, in addition to taking on multiple leadership roles on and off campus. Combine this driven campus culture will a faculty and staff that are willing to do whatever it takes to help us succeed. It’s a place I want to be."
