Faces of DePauw
Rhonesha Byng Alumni
DePauw took me out of my element. I thrived by utilizing my resources, asking for help, and communicating with people who had different perspectives.
Becoming my potential
I wanted to work in media when I came to DePauw, so I took advantage of WGRE, the campus radio station. Hosting my own show freed me to explore and be creative while I learned new skills. Then I took a class with Professor Jeff McCall, who collaborated with me on a radio documentary that won an award from the Associated Press.
At DePauw, I learned how important it is to have a group of supporters and champions. Now I help other young professional women find theirs. Her Agenda, my career networking platform, started out in my dorm room. Today it's a community of more than 100,000 women helping each other get ahead at work and in life.
Coming to DePauw was a big decision for me. I grew up in Brooklyn, and Central Indiana was a very different kind of place. But it ended up being the best thing for me. Small class sizes, accountability, and being able to focus on school meant I never got sidetracked from my agenda.
