DePauw mourns Janet Prindle Seidler ’58, founder of The Prindle Institute for Ethics
DePauw University mourns the loss of Janet Prindle Seidler ’58, a Wall Street pioneer, a generous philanthropist and a beloved daughter of DePauw. She passed away on February 19. She was 88 years old.
Throughout Prindle Seidler’s remarkable career in finance, she consistently defied expectations and redefined success. She will be remembered for breaking new ground for women in the investment management business, emerging as a leader in the movement of socially responsible investing and generously supporting numerous philanthropic causes, including the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw.

Black History Lecture given by Dr. Jennifer H. Mike, Global Studies Fellow
On February 12, 2025, Dr. Jennifer Heaven Mike, Global Studies Scholar, Assistant Professor in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department at DePauw University, and Hampton and Esther Boswell Distinguished University Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, delivered a keynote lecture for Black History Month. The event, titled Deconstructing Accusation and Domination in the Africana World: Building a More Inclusive ‘Ubuntu’ Future, was hosted by the African Studies Department and explored the enduring impact of accusations on marginalized racial communities, examining how these social constructs continue to perpetuate domination, exclusion, and inequality.

2025 Boswell Symposium Sparks Dialogue on Human Rights and Global Justice
The 2025 Boswell Symposium once again proved to be a powerful platform for critical dialogue, bringing together scholars, students, and community members to engage in one of the most pressing conversations of our time. This year, we were honored to host Dr. Carrie Booth Walling, a distinguished scholar and human rights advocate, whose thought-provoking lecture challenged us to reconsider our collective responsibility to justice, freedom, and dignity.
