DePauw University's Film and Media Arts Program Presents: DREAMS AREN'T DUMB - A Film Production Workshop and Screening by Pigasus Pictures

October 31, 2023 — DePauw University is thrilled to announce an exclusive Film Production Workshop and Film Screening event featuring Pigasus Pictures, an independent film company based in Indiana. The workshop, titled "DREAMS AREN'T DUMB: navigating the landscape of writing, financing, making, and selling feature films when you don't know anyone," will be led by Pigasus CEO and co-founder, Zachary Spicer, producer and CFO of Pigasus Pictures John Marshall, and set designer and producer at Pigasus Pictures, Gordon Strain.
In this engaging workshop, attendees will delve into the intricacies of independent film production, exploring the fascinating journey from initial concept to the stage of theatrical screenings. Zachary Spicer, a Greencastle native, will share insights into starting a film business in Indiana and the importance of local branding in media success.
The workshop will also touch on the process of creating in-house content or sourcing it from other screenwriters and creatives. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the financial intricacies of independent feature films, covering topics such as equity, debt, and tax credits. The event will explore strategies for pitching movies to investors and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the operational aspects of film production.
The group will also present their newest feature film that same evening, providing attendees with a firsthand look at the company's creative endeavors. They will be available to answer questions from the audience after the event.
