A Night of Interdisciplinary Art at M-Squared: “At First I Was An Island” - An Evening of Music, Film, Poetry, and Art

Greencastle, Ind. – November 14, 2024 — DePauw University's Creative School presents At First I Was An Island, an immersive evening of music, poetry, film, and painting on November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at M-Squared in downtown Greencastle.
The free, hour-long event features a collaboration by four faculty members from DePauw's programs in music, creative writing, film, and studio art. The following creative and performing artists will present works in close conversation with each other, offering the audience a surprising new experience of diverse art forms.

Pianist May Phang will perform a specially curated program of contemporary music and masterworks from the piano repertoire inspired by the work of her colleagues.

Eugene Gloria, whose most recent book of poems, Sightseer in This Killing City, was awarded an Indiana Author's Award, will share five poems.

Dahee Yun, whose experimental films and videos have been featured at prominent international festivals, will present a short film in dialogue with poems and paintings.

John Berry will show several new paintings that invite viewers to reconsider space and form through layers of illusion and depth.
