Shakespeare in the Park, DePauw Style

Shakespeare in the Park, DePauw Style

April 3, 2001

April 3, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - Combine spring, the Bard and some laughs and you have this weekend's performance of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" in DePauw University's Globe Theatre (the garden in the middle of the Performing Arts Center).

A small, valiant group of very dedicated students has assembled an uproarious parody of the works of William Shakespeare.  Among other things, audiences will see the histories as a football game, Titus Andronicus as a cooking show, and Romeo and Juliet in the style of Gone With the Wind.

Suitable for middle school students and older, the show is a slightly irreverent, somewhat bawdy, unrelentingly hilarious romp that promises to delight both the Shakespeare lover and skeptic.

Performances are scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (April 5-7) at 7 p.m.  Admission is $2.  If the weather is inclement, the play will be presented in Kerr Theatre inside the PAC.
