Vernon Jordan '57 Among "Power Elite" Gathered for Katharine Graham Funeral

July 23, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - A who's who of power and prestige, including Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, Vice President Dick Cheney, interviewer Barbara Walters, former President Bill Clinton, investor Warren Buffett and New York Mayor Rudolph Guiliani gathered in the nation's capital today for the funeral of Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham. A crowd estimated at 4,000 people gathered to pay their last respects to the 84-year-old Graham, who died last week. Among the pallbearers was Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., an atttorney and long time civil rights leader who graduated from DePauw University in 1957.
