Prayer Vigil Tonight for Victims of Today's Attacks
September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - Members of the DePauw University and Greencastle communities are invited to come together tonight at 8 p.m. at Bowman Pond for a prayer vigil in the wake of today's events across America, which continue to unfold as of mid-morning.
"There are many emotions being felt today, and it's important for people to come together to seek solace in community and, in a sense, a spiritual meaning in the face of tragedy," said O. Wesley Allen, DePauw's Dean of the Chapel. "We welcome people of all faiths and all backgrounds."
Meanwhile, DePauw is offering counseling to students, faculty and staff throughout the day in the Union Building Ballroom, where network television coverage is also being monitored. President Robert G. Bottoms issued a statement this morning, saying "I speak for all of the DePauw family in saying that our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by today's events as well as their families and friends."
