New Faculty Jazz Sextet Performs for the First Time

October 14, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw University Faculty Jazz Sextet will be giving its first concert on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. on the stage of Kresge Auditorium in the Performing Arts Center. Members are Randy Salman, reeds; Lennie Foy, trumpet; Brent Wallarab, trombone; Gary Walters, piano; Jack Helsley, bass; and Steve Hanna, drums. Salman, Wallarab, and Foy are also members of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra (SJMO), the orchestra-in-residence at the National Museum of American History.

Featured works on the program Wednesday evening include such familiar tunes as Skylark, In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning, and Saint James Infirmary, as well as compositions by Wayne Shorter, Bobby Shew, Joe Henderson, and Brent Wallarab.

The concert is free and open to the public.
