High Tech CEO David Becker '75 to Chair Board of Newly-Created TechPoint
December 6, 2002
December 6, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - Indiana's two largest technology trade groups, the Indiana Information Technology Association (INITA) and the Indiana Technology Partnership (ITP) today announced plans to merge, and the board chairman of the new entity, TechPoint, will be David Becker, CEO of re:Member Data Services (RDS) and First Internet Bank and a 1975 graduate of DePauw University. An article in today's Indianapolis Star says TechPoint becomes "the main advocacy group for Indiana's technology-related industries."
Becker, who also serves his alma mater as a member of the Board of Directors of DePauw's McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship, says, "TechPoint is more than just a sum of its parts. It is a case of 1+1=3. Both INITA and ITP have taken steps to involve the right people and get things done. However, there is still a lot to do, and TechPoint is making a commitment to take those steps and convert them into leaps. We are going to be more aggressive - in public policy efforts, in business assistance and planning, and in member services - so that Indiana's technology industries continue to grow."
The merger is effective January 1. You can read more about it in the Star's story ( click here) or in a detailed news release issued today (accessible here). Visit TechPoint's home page by clicking here.
