Former DePauw Administrator is New Chancellor of Texas Christian University
June 11, 2003
June 11, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - Victor Boschini Jr., who served as assistant dean of students at DePauw University from 1982 to 1984, has been named the 10th chancellor in the 130-year history of Texas Christian University. Dr. Boschini began his new job this week. He'd spent the last four years as president of Illinois State University.
"A man who frequently smiles and laughs, he said he doesn't see himself as the person with the answers simply because he holds the top job on campus," Linda K. Wertheimer writes of the new chancellor in the Dallas Morning News (a sidebar notes Boschini's tenure at DePauw).
Boschini tells the newspaper, "I'm a big believer that I'm not the smartest person in the room. Collective wisdom is better than individual wisdom." Wertheimer notes, "He said he always wanted to lead a private university because he could focus more on improving campus life and academics. 'I'm not coming in here with a sword. I'm coming in with a pen,' Dr. Boschini said."
