Trombone Quartet and Horn Ensemble Perform April 20 & 21

April 16, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - You're invited to enjoy two DePauw University School of Music concerts, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 20 & 21, featuring, respectively, the DePauw Trombone Quartet and the DePauw Horn Ensemble. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Thompson Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center and are free and open to the public.
Tuesday's DePauw Trombone Quartet concert will feature the Indianapolis Trombone Quartet as guest artists. James Beckel (seen at right), DePauw faculty member and principal trombonist with the Indianapolis Symphony, will direct the DePauw quartet as well as play in the Indianapolis quartet. Other Indianapolis quartet members include 1984 DePauw graduate Blake Schlabach; Loy Hetrick, principal trombonist with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra; and Jared Rodin, former member of the Turin Radio Orchestra in Turin, Italy. Members of the DePauw Trombone Choir are Adam Bodony, John Chittum, Joel Elliott, David Furman, and Jim Sudano. The program includes individual performances by both ensembles and a finale featuring both groups in Villa-Lobos' Preludio from Bachianos Brasilerias No. 1.
Wednesday evening, the DePauw Horn Ensemble will perform a program featuring the work of Bach, Bozza, Mahler and Mitushin. Directed by Robert Danforth (pictured at left), principal hornist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble is composed of students Johanna Burian, Melissa Ellis, Emily Frame, Kendra Graf, Patrick Hines and Noel Schneider.
